Also included is a Sten MK V parts kit (less magazine, and receiver tube pieces) which includes wooden buttstock, pistol grip, and vertical foregrip, barrel, both mainsprings, mag housing and trigger group assembly. The Sten MK II is a very simple and straightforward machine gun made mostly of metal stampings.
It was far less costly and quicker to produce than the previous models such as the Lanchester. This was exactly what the British were looking for during World War II, and they made large numbers of Sten guns which found their way to every part of the British empire, including Hong Kong.
Development of the Sten continued and eventually the MK V was developed which had a wooden butt, wood vertical foregrip, and more traditional front sight near the muzzle of the barrel. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very good. Original dull finish turned an even brown-gray patina. Bore and bolt face very good.
Mechanics are fine. This is a select fire machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4.
The STEN sub-machine gun is one of the weapons which has become synonymous with sub-machine guns all over the English speaking world and the title Sten was at one stage applied indiscriminately to any vaguely similar gun. The first models appeared in 1941 and were soon replaced with improved versions. It was designed to be cheap and easily made with little labour and with minimal tooling. By 1945 more than four million of various marks had been made after which production virtually stopped apart from maintenance spares.

The Sten was supplied to all Commonwealth countries. Probably half a million Mark II Sten guns were sent to the underground movements in Occupied Europe during the Second World War, and little or no attempt was made to recover them after 1945. The STEN gun was never made with any great precision, nor with good materials, so remaining examples are likely to be well worn.
